Ramalina, with c. 200 species worldwide, is one of the most characteristic genera forming fruticose macrolichens. Their usually large yellowish coloured thalli make Ramalina species easily recognizable. They thrive in many ecosystems of the world, mostly epiphytic in temperate regions, there exist also many saxicolous species in coastal areas and semi-arid and arid regions with frequent fogs. So far, no phylogenetic study has covered the whole genus. We intend to carry out the first phylogeny of Ramalina using NGS in order to look for patterns of diversification and to study which factors may have influenced them.
